But what are functional foods?
The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics defines functional foods as
“whole foods along with fortified, enriched or enhanced foods that have a potentially beneficial effect on health when consumed as part of a varied diet on a regular basis at effective levels based on significant standards of evidence.”
From the base of our Plant Burger Patty to our Full Belly salad, we choose whole organic ingredients because “additives, chemicals, and hormones found in non-organic and processed foods can add damaging toxins to the body, as well as inhibit digestion so that when people do eat healthy food, they don’t absorb as many nutrients”
