Celebrating Earth Day 2017
April 20th, 2017

We know our customers value clean living. We do too. Committed to serving one hundred percent organic food one hundred percent of the time, we abide by a do-no-harm ethos that supports healthy bodies and a healthy planet.

On a mission to provide 100% organic food to our community

We are 100% organic right down to our spices! We have chosen to create a restaurant company that is 100% organic because organic produce and other ingredients are grown without the use of pesticides, synthetic fertilizers, sewage sludge, genetically modified organisms, or ionizing radiation. That’s right, no GMOs are in any certified organic product.
Organic agriculture standards consist of an integrated farming system that strives for sustainability and enhances the soil fertility and overall biological diversity of the farm. We believe what one puts in their body affects their health and long term health and environment; while the decisions we make as consumers collectively shape and effect the environment and communities that we share.

Serving only local, organic poultry and sustainably caught wild seafood

We believe that we can assist in slowing down climate change by not serving any meat or lamb, both of which have the highest carbon footprints of any proteins. We’ve chosen animal proteins that have a better environmental and community impact including local poultry from Mary’s chickens and eggs from local organic farms. We only use, meat, poultry, eggs, and dairy products that do not take antibiotics or growth hormones.

Making our food from scratch every day

We set ourselves to an extremely high standard and prep our ingredients from scratch. This is not the norm in the fast-casual restaurant industry and we are proud of our commitment to making our customers the most fresh, healthy and delicious food day in and day out. The beets, carrots, and tomatoes you are eating were hand-cut this morning!

Designing our restaurants using sustainable and energy efficient materials

Featured regularly in sustainable design classes, and part of local bay area green tours, The Plants have been designed using sustainable, recycled and reused materials to create a comfortable and lower carbon footprint environment. We use only compostable materials and containers in all of our restaurants and for all of our to-go containers and utensils. We’re always on the lookout for new, more sustainable, materials to use in our spaces.

Partnering with Local Food Producers

We work with some amazing food partners and farmers including Farm Fresh To You and Capay Farms and local vendors like Chromatic Coffee, Lev’s Kombucha and Five Mountains Tea. House of Bagels even created their first ever 100% organic bagels just for us.  These are just a few of the Bay Area companies we are proud to work with!
